I don't have the time I wish I did to create art and hang out here like I did when I wasn't employed (and not by choice, it just happened) But I'm finding a regular schedule now and getting used to forcing myself to push away my nocturnal instincts. Jess and I love the night and don't really wake up till about 8 p.m. even if we "wake up" at 10 AM. Our creative juices and internal energies just flow better when the moon is out.

So I promised a blog update. The topic as of now is about a girl cat named Jack. Don't worry, even if you don't like cats, it's an important issue to me but you don't have to read it. :p

Working on a new digital piece called "Skin-Mill" unless I change the title last minute. It happens....

Otherwise, here's the story on Jack. I posted it on dA because I've spent 5 years of my life on that site and felt it might be better broadcasted for the time being. Don't worry, Artician will let you back in after you've read it.

<3 peace and love,

Roxy

surprise surgery, clothing and teens

I'm going to try to keep this short. lol

Had a blast over memorial day weekend at the lake, AHiL and I lost terribly to my parents in yard sports. :\ (there's always next year!)
Came home, and mom wasn't feeling good. The next day she spent all day at the hospital which resulted in an emergency appendectomy.
We have no idea why we even have an appendix anyway- so no biggy that it's out but it was so bad it almost exploded while they were
trying to remove it. ICK!!! so we've been taking care of mom and we had dad's birthday yesterday. Bought him steak (ewww) and made
cupcakes and had balloons and all that jazz. He was a happy camper.

Got mom and Jesse and I to the mall today to shop for some clothes for work. I haven't had to have clothes for work for a couple of years
now because of working at home and such. Sooooo... I hate to shop. If it's shoes, that's one thing. Hand bags, I love. Tattoos I would shop for all day. (got that a couple weeks ago) but clothes. ICK!!! it's all hot and people have had their sweaty bodies in them before I have and it's ick.
HOWEVER- I learned a few things. My man is a pro at shopping. He knows what will look good on me before I do. He has an amazing sense of high fashion style and could dress models on a runway, I shit you not. How fun to learn this about him. Mom held up like a champ, and we got everything I needed and didn't need including THE CUTEST fuzzy hello kitty daisy duke shorts and a purse that you would drool on if only for the texture and pattern. ha ha (red.) yum.

Liv- my daughter is feeling really good, no heart issues, (I think she's a slight hypochondriac) and she is getting an award in math for being so friggin' smart. ok, I think I'm pretty awesome but I SUCK. suck at math. I'm so proud of her!! she's still a pain in the ass but she's a good girl, with good grades and we will continue to keep her all too grown up bod in the closet until she's 35. *cough*

Sorry to have not been around much but stuff happens. miss everyone! =)

love,

general stuffs =)

Just wanted to let everyone know that my kiddo is ok as far as her heart is concerned. Nothing abnormal except her being a 16 year old that is slightly hyper with mild selective attention spans. =)

Some of you know that my dad backed his SUV in to my Jetta a couple weeks ago, which sucked. Yesterday, I found out that my daughter ran over what might have been godzilla from the looks of the underside of my car, so my sweet salsa red baby gets to go to the body doctor this week. Good thing my new job doesn't start until the 25th.

Went out for an adventure yesterday with Jesse. Visited my tattoo artist's new shop, figured out a plan for the inside of my left forearm and I go back to get it next week. MAD EXCITED to be having this work done. After that we found a really cool resale record store that had all kinds of vinyl, posters, cassette tapes, books etc. Some pretty obscure stuff actually. He found a book on the Doors that he didn't know existed, so he was all giddy. Left there, and went to an Ethiopian restaurant. Had THE BEST home made cheesecake after dinner that I wish I had more of right now.

Kind of funny tidbit about that- The dude that owned the place turned the television on while we were enjoying dinner and it kinda ticked me off. I wished secretly that the tele would blow up and low and behold, a storm blew in and knocked the power out. HA HA HA then the not funny part happened.... he couldn't run our bank card with the power out. :| (we never carry a ton of cash...) soooooooooo the whole block was out of electricity, it was pouring, we ran across the street to the bank (me thinking stupidly that the ATM would surely work) NO GO. Back to the car, driving around to find lights. I know the guy thought we were going to stiff him but alas, Jesse found a store with an ATM that was working and we ran back to save the day.

All in all a great funny day actually that ended with a family movie- "Australia" looooong movie but good!

Evil- I swear I'm writing your tidbits!
Jess- I love you more than words can say
Foxfires- we looked for the movie suggestion but the store didn't have it!
Everyone- Hug someone today and make some art!

Back from outer space!

Ok, really, back from the lake... and have been home a while, just BUSY.
Spending time playing the new survival modes of L4d, getting ready for my new job which consists of
trying to figure out how AHiL and I are going to go to bed before 3, 4 5 a.m. !!!!
we are nocturnal damnit!

Also figuring out what's up with my kiddo... she's having weird stuff with her heart beating fast and
we're banking on anxiety (like her mom)... but ruling out all the other possible stuff too. My dad has
a backwards heart and funky valves, so we're doing the better safe than sorry route.

What else? hmmm... still in that want to create mode but haven't yet. Interruptions maybe? weird picking up the tablet again after having been away from it a while but I'm gonna!!

**Started our joint texture resource account here: AHiLRoxTextures *lovin it*

**Going to start an eblogger when I have the motivation to get it done. (will beg Jesse to make it pretty!)

**STILL trying to sell my condo! have good thoughts about it right now so cross fingers!

**Watched "The secret life of bees" and highly recommend it to EVERYONE.

**Got invited to be a scout for Artician, very excited about that! If you're interested in being one too you should fill out the application. This site is growing like mad and it's so cool to be part of the development from this early stage. You don't get to do that more than once.

Here's a link to the application- Artician scout app

***************BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO GURUUBII AND MISSKITTYOOOO*****************

And now for a series of Hey! Look at this!
This is based on the questions I get from various artists here.

Well what do you know??

That the top left corner of your Artician (yes where the little icon is) holds a handy little drop down
menu for finding things? 4 category headers and tons of sub menu options... take time to
explore for sure!

"discuss"= forum (I know, should be easy but lots of people ask me!!)
"browse network"= all the people you watch and all of their activity.
"community" shows you current things being discussed, popular users and more!

On that same line... if you want to customize ANYTHING, hit your "customize button"
You will see on your profile page all of the things you can customize. It's super simple once
you have a look at it.

THERE IS A NEW "FRIENDS I CLICK THE MOST" ability now. Click customize and go to the "friends"
section. You'll see the newness there. (thanks again guys for making that happen!)

As things here evolve I'm sure they'll be a bunch of new yumminess to be had here in the land of
great art, good people and a beautiful place to hang out. -yay-!

Special Welcome to a couple people that you should check out..... I love their work.
aegis-strife
fb101
myana

Ok, that's all the blabbering I have for you guys now. Without a notfication system for new blog
posting, I'm finding myself running around reading things on my own but have suggested that there
is something put in place to let me know when you guys update! Hopefully you'll see this to share
your thoughts. :p

In fact, if you've posted a new blog lately, link me! LOL

Holy stampede batman!!

So AHiLdesigns and I have have been here for less than 3 days now and I'm blown away
with all the people who have stormed the doors to join the community here. It's been a fun
23 hours online, learning our way around and seeing what all is in store for this breath of
fresh air, in my opinion.

I know the site is small. It's new-ish, it's buggy (I know another buggy art site too!) lol. . .
however--------- it's very welcoming, intimate and it's fucking hot! the customization
options are so sweet and so far the admin response in the forums has been ace including
confirmation on some major upcoming features.

The thing I've bitched about the most is actually the lack of emotes. WE ARE EMOTE WHORES!
And guess what? They're open to new ones- any kind- submit to pixel art. So if you know fab
emoticonists or you are one yourself, get to crackin' cos you know what we like. :evillaugh: and
<--- isn't it.

For a list of desired emotes- I started a thread here -> We want these emotes!

Be sure to check the forums and ask questions, make suggestion and invite your friends who you
think might like it over here. I'm definitely doing the same.

And now, to address two topics that keep coming up in my inbox. NO, I'm not leaving dA, and I'm
not under some false pretense that we're going to make this dA, or that everyone is going to leave
dA and the greenLAND will fall under. I'm not stupid. I'm not being evil, I just need a change. Am
I still bitter? Fuck yes I am. Am I going to go on about it? no. I need to move on, it was easy for
them to do so here I go. (I still thank all of you for your support there too.) For me, I just couldn't
relax there, couldn't feel inspired, couldn't create. This is a new start for me and I couldn't be happier.

I'm sure the road here will be bumpy, I can imagine server issues, shit not working, 404 errors, category paths being weird, miscats, and missing things that I have been used to, but you know what... I'm excited. Renewed and ready to help! Everyone I've spoken to has been treated with warmth and guidance.

Topic TWO!

MY PAGE LAYOUT!!!!!!!!

All of my design work is not my own. I've stolen every bit of it. Yes, you heard me right. I stole it from my fiance' AHiLdesigns. LMAO.

He has created so many designs for people for CSS journals, blogs, etc.... and he's damned good at it. So thank you for all the compliments on my page but I didn't do it. He customized my header with his own design and tweaked an existing template from this site for the Artician community.

If you want a custom designed header, he'll make it for a small fee If you want an entirely custom designed page, he'll make it for a little more than a small fee- but he's super reasonable and worth it!!! If you have questions though, and don't need design work, I'm sure he's happy to help answer. Just go bug him. *nod*

AND- If you wanna mess around with existing design templates for the site--- here are a few links for that: FIND ME ARTICIAN SKINS!!
more info can be found at More skinning help!
With that... I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend and keep bringing in the good eggs. I'm lovin' seeing all this artistic blood here. And tell me what you like or don't like about the site. I'm curious!!

Peace and love

Rox is in the house! where are you?

I began my artistic endeavors on the deviantART site about 4 years ago. I had no idea what I was doing but knew I loved what I saw and the people were groovy too!

After integrating into the community and learning the ropes, I was invited to be a then Gallery Director for the wallpaper gallery. Soon after, film came to dA. I have a lot of background in film and was offered the volunteer position for the film and animation team.

Fast forwarding a bit- in January of 2008, I became a full time core employee of dA, working as the Assistant Director of Artist Relations. Very rewarding experience, and then, after the volunteer program was "restructured," and a trip to L.A., I was asked to become Manager of Film Development full time. (October 2008)

January, 2009, I received a phone call from my boss, $Moonbeam13, and was terminated. Nothing prior had indicated to me that there was an issue of any kind. Business is business and people are expendable- "no explanation required."

MOST importantly....- I met the love of my life, AHILdesigns aka allhopeislost on that site, and gained a LOT more than I lost. (pun intended)

My respect regarding the integrity and professionalism of particular members of the upper administration of deviantARTis obviously kicked to the curb. I was always taught to treat people fairly no matter what the situation. So now, here I am. Looking at the new and trying to forget about the old. Nice to see a site that seems to be clean, easy to navigate, and presents a hybrid of a few of the worlds most popular sites all in one. I'm diggin' it

I really appreciate the support of all of my watchers/friends on dA, but I have a hard time hanging out there now. I hope to see them all here. It seems what I didn't like about dA isn't here.

The most important thing about this entry though... is that, I'm inspired again. I can't wait to create!
